Creeping thyme performs best with at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. It may tolerate some light shade, but growth and flowering can be thinner in areas that receive insufficient sun.

Loose, well-draining soil is essential. Creeping thyme does not perform well in consistently wet or waterlogged ground. Remove weeds and loosen the top 1–2 inches of soil before planting.

Do not bury them deeply. Creeping thyme seeds need light to germinate. Scatter them across the prepared surface and gently press them into the soil so they make good contact.

Germination commonly takes approximately 14–28 days, depending on temperature, moisture, and growing conditions. Keep the surface consistently moist during this period without soaking it.

Mist or gently water the area whenever the surface begins to dry. The goal is consistent moisture during germination, not saturated soil. Once the plants are established, reduce the watering frequency and allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
